Chinese electronics manufacturer Vivo announced today that its upcoming Vivo 15 Pro smartphone will have a 32-megapixel pop-up selfie camera. The phone will be the company’s second launch at elevating front-facing camera and will be officially announced on February 20th.
The 18-second-long video teaser of the Vivo V15 Pro explicitly confirms its moniker and features the company’s brand ambassador Aamir Khan. The Bollywood star is seen using the upcoming handset and specifically using its front and rear camera sensors. The video gives a glimpse at the triple rear camera setup that apparently has AI support.
32MP Camera Breakdown
Although no additional information about the front camera sensor has been revealed, the 32-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL Bright GD1 sensor – announced in 2018 – does seem like the obvious choice. The Samsung sensor features pixel patches of 0.8 micrometers which allows the device to capture high-resolution pictures. The sensor also delivers low-light sensitivity equivalent to a pixel 4 times the size, even if the resolution is bumped down. The GDI sensor also includes real-time HDR and gyro-based EIS, making for a pretty capable front camera.
Beyond the camera, Vivo also confirmed the V15 Pro will use a fingerprint scanner built right into the display. The company used the same feature on its Nex S device. No price for the handset has been announced yet, but the new phone is scheduled to be officially announced on February 20th and more details should be made available during that event. The company is also expected to show off its Apex smartphone, an all-glass device with no ports.
Vivo is officially launching the V15 Pro in India on February 20. The new phone could be the successor to the V11 Pro that was launched in India last year with a price tag of Rs. 25,990.
